Walden Winter Commencement 2021
Walden University will host a special online commencement celebration honoring Walden’s graduates and their milestone achievement on February 6, 2021. This virtual event will feature a university-wide celebration followed by college ceremonies that will individually recognize each graduate with the conferral of their degree.
Watch a statement from President Ulmer regarding the shift to a special virtual commencement ceremony.
Virtual Event Overview
Walden’s 64th commencement will consist of two parts: A university-wide commencement ceremony followed by college ceremonies.
The university-wide commencement will broadcast at 2 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, February 6th on Facebook and on the commencement showroom page. This broadcast will include highlights from the Walden community, messages from leadership, our special commencement speaker, and more.
Immediately following the university-wide commencement, the college ceremonies will be available to view on-demand on the commencement showroom page. Registered graduates will be individually recognized during these college ceremonies.
In addition to viewing both ceremonies, we encourage our graduates and their support networks to participate in the conversation on Walden’s winter 2021 commencement Facebook event page. As you share on social media, be sure to use #WaldenUGrad on your posts!
Keynote Commencement Speaker Dr. Myron Rolle

The keynote speaker for Walden’s 64th Commencement will be Dr. Myron Rolle, a former NFL safety, Rhodes Scholar and neuroscience resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. A rare combination of experience in the fields of education, sport and medicine, Dr. Rolle's career has taken him from the football field to the front lines, as he currently works and volunteers to aid the hospital in the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic.

In addition to participating in our virtual commencement celebration, graduates can also choose to participate in a future in-person commencement ceremony when it is safe to hold one. Our planned future ceremonies include the summer 2021 commencement to be held August 26 – 28, 2021 in San Antonio, TX and the winter 2022 commencement to be held January 27–29, 2022, in Orlando, Florida.
Graduates who receive an invitation to attend our virtual commencement will have the opportunity to indicate their interest in participating in a future in-person ceremony. In order to receive communications regarding a future in-person ceremony, we urge graduates to use the prompts within their invitation to indicate which ceremony they are interested in attending.
If you did not let us know which future ceremony you plan to attend during the registration process, please fill out the future ceremony interest survey to let us know.

While regalia is not required in order to submit graduate photos or participate in the virtual commencement, you may purchase it to wear at home and for photographs.
Walden has recently partnered with Herff Jones for all your regalia needs and graduation products. Regalia is available to order on the Herff Jones website for home delivery. In order to receive regalia before the virtual commencement, orders must be placed by January 11, 2021. Please note that regalia orders typically take 2-3 weeks to ship unless otherwise noted.
We understand that some graduates have already purchased black regalia or custom Walden doctoral gowns from our previous vendor. If you already have this regalia, we welcome you to participate and submit photos wearing it.
